This five-layer tunnel book serves as a self-portrait as I recollect and reflect on my experience growing up in Fuzhou, the “City of Banyans.” I look back to the land that once nurtured me and only to find it unrecognizable - the flourishing banyan roots actually a cage in disguise I cannot escape.
This piece won the 2023 iJungle illustration award and was longlisted in the 9th Chinese Illustration Biennial.
